Systems & Platform Engineering
that ships.

Most platform engineering is slide decks and wishful thinking. I build infrastructure, observability, and tooling that teams actually use.

Let's ship.

The works

Platform Engineering

Infrastructure your developers won’t hate.

  • AWS architecture, migration & setup
  • Terraform from scratch
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Observability from scratch or integration
  • Docker / Kubernetes fleet management
Ship your platform. →

Software Engineering

Backend that does what it says on the tin.

  • Bash, Python & Go
  • Monolith decomposition & microservice extraction
  • FTP/EDI integration, billing & payment pipelines
  • Internal CLI & developer tooling
  • Process automation (UiPath, C#, LLM integration)
Ship the backend. →

Human Engineering

Getting people to actually use the tools you built.

  • Domain fluency & engineering culture adoption
  • Automation literacy programs for non-technical staff
  • Root Cause Analysis facilitation (blameless)
  • Agile / Lean / Six Sigma process design
  • DISC profiling & communication workshops
Ship adoption. →

About

Romain. I’ve spent over a decade in the trenches, more than half in the tech industry. Infrastructure, automation, backend, the works.

Real talk: the best infrastructure is the one you forget exists. No heroics at 3 AM, no weekend firefighting, just boring, reliable systems that get out of your way. I’ll take boring over clever any day. A dashboard nobody opens isn’t observability, it’s expensive shelfware.

Outside of this, I play video games and trading card games, turn any piece of hardware lingering around into a linux compute station for my ever growing homelab, and go out with friends. Kinda cliché, but it's enough for me to have fun.

I live in France. Any timezone, French or English. If your team spends more time fighting your platform than shipping features, we should talk.

Battle-tested

Cloud migration & cost optimization - Kubernetes to Serverless

Infrastructure & cloud · Migration

Leading migration from a legacy Kubernetes platform to a simpler container/serverless architecture, codified with Terraform and optimized for cost and operability.

Terraform from scratch Spot instance adoption Cost reducing

Company-wide observability - From zero to full coverage

Platform engineering · 3 teams, 20 engineers

Designed and executed the full observability strategy: Terraform-provisioned OTLP setup, OpenTelemetry wrappers in Go and Python, Grafana/Splunk integrations and team-by-team adoption. Every service gained structured logging, distributed tracing, and metrics for the first time.

3 teams onboarded Full tracing coverage Structured logging org-wide

Developer self-service - Database tooling

DevEx · CLI

Identified friction around database access and delivered self-service CLI tooling for dump, anonymisation, and restore workflows. Became the standard approach for onboarding and local development.

Self-service CLI Onboarding standard

Government integration - Backend

Billing · Compliance

Designed and delivered the full government integration python microservice: API + CSV/FTP processing pipeline. Generated €100K+ annually with 99% uptime and eliminated all manual processing previously handled by customer support.

€100K+/year 99% uptime Zero manual processing

Automations - Culture ambassador

Process automation · RPA & LLM

Delivered 10+ automation bots end-to-end, integrated with internal APIs, LLM services, and multi-tenant databases. Among the first deployment of LLM-powered automation in a major telecom group. Built an automation literacy program for non-technical staff that ensured high adoption.

€1M+ saved / 3 years 10+ bots deployed LLM in prod Staff training program

Client names and private system details stay off the open web. For serious conversations, redacted artifacts can be shared in a controlled way.
